Regarding astrology, Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada writes, “According to the vedic system, the parents would consider the horoscopes of any boy and girl who were to be married.If according to the astrological calculations the boy and girl were compatible in every aspect, the match was called Yotaka and the marriage would be accepted.”(Srimad Bhagavatam 9.18.23 purport).
The tradition of reading the astrological charts was followed at the time of the Lord’s incarnation. The great sage, Vasistha Muni compiled a chart at the appearance of Lord Ramachandra, Lord Krishna’s appearance, Garga Muni prepared His horoscope, and Nilambar Chakravarti( Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s grandfather) read the astrological chart on the appearance of Sriman Mahaprabhu.
